Chase Credit Card Temporary Enhancements

Chase has two Sapphire credit cards, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Chase has now added additional enhancements to these two cards. Both have annual fees and comes with various benefits.

Beginning Nov 1, 2020 through April 30, 2021, The Sapphire Reserve will earn 3x back towards groceries, while the Sapphire Preferred will earn 2x back, up to $1,000/mo.

Additionally the $300 travel credit from the Sapphire Reserve can be used towards gas and grocery till June 30, 2021.

If you don’t already have one of the above Sapphire cards, I don’t think it’s worth signing up strictly to take advantage of the grocery enhancement here. Especially since travel is restricted still and unless you have another specific reason for getting these cards, it is worth holding off.

If you have these cards already, this is a welcomed addition.

If you are interested in the grocery cash back bonus, I highly recommend both the Chase Freedom Flex and the Chase Freedom Unlimited. Currently they both offer a $200 sign up bonus along with a 5% cash back up to the same $1,000/month as the Sapphire cards, but do not have an annual fee. If you don’t already have both these cards, I highly recommend them.
